Symptoms of constipation in kids can easily be pinpointed by their daily eating habits. It is because of this that I am going to give you a couple of eating suggestions for Kids 6-9 years old that was suggested by the Ministry of Health in Chile.

When we reach the ages between 6 and 9 years old, daily activities and day to day chores increase than when we are 2 to 5 years old. The required amount of protein to maintain us functioning at optimal levels at those ages follow suit as well.

In order to guide us to good nutrition for our children, the Ministry of Health of Chile created a “daily food guide for children from 6 to 9 years old” which are a great help. My native language is Spanish, so this is why I cite a Spanish resource.

In comparison with the previous guide, children 2 to 5 years old, require less quantities of food about 250 to 300 calories less than when 6 to 9. This is crucial for the development of children at school age where they are most active.

Here is a guideline from the source that I cited earlier on eating healthy.

Food Frequency Boys, Girls
Low-fat milk Daily 3 cups
Vegetables Daily 2 dishes raw or cooked
Fruits Daily 3 Fruits
Fish Twice Weekly 1 small dish
Chicken, Turkey, or lean meats Twice Weekly 1 small dish
Vegetables Twice Weekly 1 small dish
Eggs Twice to Thrice Weekly 1 unit
(Cereal, pasta, potatoes) cooked 4 to 5 times Weekly 2 – 1 1/2 Units (Boys - Girls)
Oils and Fats Daily Small Quantity
Sugar Daily Small Quantity (5 spoonfuls max)
Water Daily 1.4 to 2 liters (6 to 8 cups)
Approximate calories 1700 kcal, 1550 kcal (Boys, Girls)

We must also remember that the amount of liquid water should include all foods, a small piece of meat is about the size and thickness of the palm of a child and a small dish is approximately 200 to 250 grams.
